Custom Simulant

Custom Simulant – GST develops simulants of various commercial, military and homemade explosives. The Xplosive simulant is tailored to the type of detection system that is being used. Different detection systems will identify explosives based on different properties. A detailed knowledge of the properties of various explosives and the principle of detection for a given system is used to develop safe and inert materials that will effective mimic the real explosive. The XPLOSIVE simulant is used in our threat recognition training aids .…. and training can be tailored to specific requirements.

Modular IED Training Aid

The Modular IED Training Aid is designed to provide hands-on training to the checkpoint security personnel. The IED assemblies contain x-ray explosive simulants to provide training on visual analysis of the x-ray image.

The Explosive Recognition Aid is designed to provide a general overview of explosives. The Aid contains visual and tactile simulants of manufactured and homemade explosives. The simulants resemble the manufactured explosives (color, consistency and appearance.

The Simulated IED Bomb was designed to provide operational training for the security personnel. The Aid contains x-ray, visual and tactical simulated explosives that are concealed in normal items that are used daily.

Simulated Shoe Bombs

1. A Polaroid battery, with improvised bridge wire initiator, is concealed inside a sandal. There are some variations of sandal color and style.

2. The sole of the sandal is cut open, packed with the detonator and simulant, and then resealed.

3. The wires are connected to a pair of copper rivets underneath the strap. These can be short circuited by using a paperclip or other small piece of metal to detonate the device.

The Simulated Shoe Bomb was designed to provide operational training for the security personnel. The Aid contains x-ray, visual and tactical simulated explosives that concealed in men’s, women’s or children shoes.
