Transportation Security Laboratory

  GST is one of the original prime contractors supporting the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Laboratory; at the W.J. Hughes Technical Center near Atlantic City NJ. The TSL is part of the Science and Technology Directorate of DHS.

  GST evaluates new technologies and equipment for effectiveness in detecting the evolving range of threats to the security of air, ground, and sea travel.

  GST personnel are also involved in developing training and training aids for airport Screeners in visual and x-ray threat recognition and how to produce efficient and reliable results using Explosive Trace Detection equipment for checked and carry-on baggage.

  In the quest for improved safety and security for the traveling public, GST has contributed to the development, testing, and deployment of new technologies for Aviation Security, Airport Security, Physical Security, and the Security of Information Technology.



  Today, GST engineers, chemists, and technicians are involved in the on-going development and deployment of trace and bulk detection of explosives, advanced passenger screening portals, positive passenger-bag matching systems, information system security, development of training materials, and providing information technology support.

  GST supports the DHS's Transportation Security R&D Lab as their prime contractor for the development and certification of the state-of-the-art security technology, test and evaluation, security system integration and system implementation. We support all aspects of development, operational and certification testing of Trace Explosive Detection Systems and Enhanced Airport Security Systems.

  GST services also include Airport / Airline / Seaport / Railroad security needs; requirements analysis, threat and vulnerability analysis, security specification development, human factors engineering, and development and implementation of security enhancements.
